The only thing you can do is show your kids love that you never got. And never show hate or unloved towards your father,as a child he probably never heard the words I love you so he doesn't know how to say it.

I've been dealing with forgiveness myself, maybe this will help you. Forgiveness:to excuse a fault, dissolve from payment, cnacel, remit punishment due, let loose, let go, drop it.
Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you
Romans 12:17 Repay NO ONE evil for evil
Colossians 3:13 ...forgiving on another as Christ forgave us
MY FAVORITE (Mark 11:25-26)
And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, FORGIVE HIM, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But, if you don't forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.
